Missi Roti is a type of flat bread made from a flour mixture but the primary ingredient is besan or chickpea flour which is spiced with onions, ginger, fresh coriander and green chillies. They can be enjoyed on their own with pickles or dal and curries. These are the best flatbreads you can get and really enhance the experience of enjoying Indian food. In fact, most North Indian restaurants have this flatbread on their menu.
Missi Roti Recipe Materials
- 1 cup flour
- 1.5 cups gram flour
- 4 tbsp mustard oil
- 1/2 teaspoon fennel
- 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon amchur powder
- 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
- Salt as per taste
- To grind
- Cut 1 large onion into slices
- 2 green chillies
- 1 inch size piece of ginger
- 1/2 cup mint leaves
- 1/2 cup coriander leaves
Missi Roti Recipe Cooking instructions
Step 1:- Peel the onion and ginger and cut them into pieces and make a thick paste with a grinder along with green chillies, coriander leaves and mint leaves.
Step 2:– Take besan and flour in a bowl. Mix the green paste, all the other spices, salt and mustard oil. Knead the flour little by little with water. Cover for 15 minutes.
Step 3:- Divide the kneaded dough into 10 equal parts. Form one portion into balls. Then spread a little flour and roll it a little thick. Heat the pan. Bake the sanded bread in a hot pan for 1 minute.
Step 4:- Flip and apply ghee. Flip again and apply ghee on the other side. Cook both sides well. Prepare the remaining loaves in this manner. Serve with any curry or dal fry.
